Terraria Tips (Split Screen, Multiplayer, Character, Time)

In gaming, developers usually include the split screen feature for co-op or multiplayer gaming. The screen is divided into two or more equal screens, and gamers can play the same game on each split screen using different controllers. If you have installed Terraria on your console or gaming PC, you might be wondering if you can play it on a split screen.

So, is Terraria split screen? Terraria does have a split screen feature on consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, if you are using a gaming PC, you need to install a third-party program to play Terraria on a split screen. Download and install the Universal Split Screen program to play Terraria on a split screen on your PC. Different consoles have different ways of setting up Terraria on a Split screen, and if you are unsure about how to set it up, you can check the official Terraria forum page.

Terraria is an interesting sandbox video game that supports multiplayer and co-op gaming. If you are bored playing the game alone, you might invite a friend to play Terraria together.

Most video games have servers that gamers use to play multiplayer versions of their games with other players in different regions. Some developers include the split screen feature that allows gamers to play the same games using a single gaming system. If you want to play multiplayer Terraria with a friend or relative, you might wonder if the game has a split screen feature.

Terraria has the split screen feature on consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but you will need to install a third-party program on your PC to play the game on a split screen. The program is known as Universal Split Screen, and you can find it on the internet. Each console has a different method of setting up Terraria on a split screen, and you can find the process on your console’s official forum.

You can also ask other gamers playing Terraria on a split screen on the same console as yours to show how they did it. You need another controller connected to your console or PC before you can launch Terraria on a split screen.

If you have a gaming PC and want to play Terraria, download the Universal Split Screen program. After installing the program, launch, and in the “Options,” load the Terraria preset.

Go back to the Current window tab, press “Alt+Tab,” and set up the mouse and keyboards or controllers you will use to play the game. To select how many split screens you need, launch Terraria as many times as the players who want to play.

For example, if you have four players, launch the Terraria game four times. Click on “Start Split Screen” to start playing the game. If you want to stop playing Terraria on a split screen, press “End” to stop.

If you are using a PlayStation console, all players who want to play Terraria have to sign in using their PlayStation accounts. Connect the controllers of all the players to the console and as player one, launch the game as you normally would. Player two should turn on their controller and press start when you spawn in your world.

Player two should sign into their account, select their character and join player one’s game. The screen will be split into two, and each player will control their character in your world. The PlayStation console can support up to four players; if you have four controllers, you can invite three people to play Terraria on a split screen on your PlayStation console.

To play Terraria on an Xbox One console, you need an extra controller for each additional player. Like the PlayStation console, The Xbox One console allows only four players to play Terraria on a split screen.

Each player needs to connect their Xbox controller to the console and sign in with their Xbox account to start playing. As player one, launch the Terraria game, invite the rest of the players to join the game, and the rest will join the game by pressing “A” on their controllers.

How Does Terraria Multiplayer Work?

The Terraria game supports both single-player and multiplayer mode, and you can choose which mode you want when you launch the game. Playing Terraria in single-player mode is fun, but the multiplayer mode is also enjoyable. If you want to play Terraria in multiplayer mode, here is how it works.

There are two types of multiplayer environments in Terraria, “Host & Play” and “Servers”. You can start “Host & Play” through the Terraria game, and the player who starts it is the host. “Server” are major internet multiplayer games that run on servers and are started using the “TerrariaServer.exe” file.

You can also choose the type of game you want to play in multiplayer mode. You can choose Player versus player (PvP) and Capture the Gem. Starting multiplayer mode is the same on all video game systems that can run the Terraria game.

The Player versus Player (PvP) is the most common multiplayer mode that players use in Terraria. This mode allows players or teams to attack each other in a world chosen by the host. If you want to play PvP, launch Terraria and select the multiplayer world, and enable the PvP mode by clicking the two crossed swords close to the armor and accessory slots in the PvP menu.

If the other players are using gaming PC or mobile devices to play Terraria, they have to activate the PvP option on their devices, or else their attacks will not cause any damage to other players. If you have several players, you can create two teams, each team having a maximum of four players, and attack the other PvP and defend your teammates.

You can also play “Capture the Gem” in Terraria in multiplayer mode, which is a video game version of the popular childhood game “Capture the flag.” Capture the Gem requires “Large Gems,” one for each PvP team. The “Large Gems” can be crafted using fifteen Amethyst, Ruby, Amber, Topaz, Sapphire, Emerald, or Diamond.

Both teams attempt to steal the gem belonging to the other team and bring it back to their base. You can do anything to keep or steam the “Large Gems”; therefore, if you choose to play “Capture the Gem,” ensure that you select teammates who know how to play Terraria.

When you play Terraria in multiplayer mode, ensure that you and the other players are free from other activities because you cannot pause the multiplayer games. If one or two players want to leave the game for a few minutes, they will leave their teams at a disadvantage.

The only way to pause a multiplayer game is when all players exit the game leaving the host. You should also note that Terraria does not have crossplay support; therefore, if you want to play multiplayer mode, you have to find players with the same gaming systems as yours.

Can You Change Your Character in Terraria?

When you launch the Terraria game, you need to create a character that you will control every time you play the game. As the game goes on, you can alter your character to make it stronger to keep surviving in the game. If you have been playing Terraria for some time and your character is not working for you, you might wonder if you can change it.

In Terraria, once you select a character and play the game, you cannot change it in-game. The only way to get a new character in Terraria is to delete the old character and create a new one. However, there are some aspects of your character that you can change in-game, including the character’s hair, eyes, skin, clothes, gender, and difficulty. You can also use third-party programs known as “Inventory editors” to edit other aspects of your character in-game that you cannot change directly in the game.

Most gamers prefer that their characters look unique; hence spend a lot of time customizing their character to look different. If you want to change a certain look on your character, you have to visit a specific NPC in the game. For example, if you want to change your character’s hair, you have to visit the “Stylist”.

The “Stylist” offers you different hairstyles and colors you can choose for your character. If you do not like the default hairstyle or color on your character, choose the one you think fits your character. You should note that if you wear head armor, the hairstyle will not be visible unless you use the “Familiar Wig.”

The “Dresser” is an NPC that can change many aspects of your character, such as the eyes, skin, and clothes. The only thing you can change in your character’s eyes is the iris color. The white of the eye on your character cannot be changed.

You can change your character’s skin color at any time during the game through the “Dresser”. When you change your character’s clothes and wear armor, you cannot see the clothes unless you use “Familiar clothes.”

If you select a different gender for your character, you can also change it in-game using the “Gender Change Potion.” Both genders in Terraria are equal in ability, and the only differences are the type of armor, hurt sound, and NPC dialogue.

If you have been playing as a male character and want to change to a female character, you do not have to delete the character and create a new one. You need all the seven herbs in Terraria to craft the “Gender Change Potion.” Once you use the potion, the effects remain indefinitely unless you use the potion again.

Can You Change the Time in Terraria?

Most action-adventure video games, including Terraria, have an in-game time that allows you to play at different times of the day or night. Playing at certain times of the day can affect the gameplay. If you are playing Terraria at a certain time and want to move the time, you might be wondering if it is possible to change the time.

You can change the time in Terraria when you activate “Hardmode” and acquire the “Enchanted Sundial”. The “Enchanted Sundial” is a furniture item that you can place on the ground and press the button on it to advance time to the next day at sunrise. Once you press the button, the time will move fast until 4.30 AM the following day.

However, once you use the “Enchanted Sundial,” it will be unusable for the next seven in-game days. Seven in-game days in Terraria are two hours and forty-eight minutes in real-time; therefore, you do not have to wait long to use the “Enchanted Sundial” again.

The “Enchanted Sundial” does not immediately turn the time to the next day. When you press the button on the “Enchanted Sundial,” the time begins to move at a faster rate, and you can see the effects on your screen.

You can see the clouds and sun speeding across the sun, and when night comes, the moon will also speed through the screen, and the time will stop as soon as it is 4.30 AM. Once the time returns to normal, you can continue playing the game.

It is important to note that the seven-day cooldown affects all “Enchanted Sundials” in your inventory. Once you press the button and the time is moved to the next morning, the seven-day cooldown takes effect on all “Enchanted Sundials”.

You cannot use a second “Enchanted Sundial” to further fast forward time. When you are playing in Multiplayer mode and use the “Enchanted Sundial,” it will start to count down the cooldown days if all players are online when the in-game time changes.

Wrap Up

Many gamers enjoy playing couch co-op games where you use the same gaming system to play one game in multiplayer mode. In Terraria, you can play the game on a split screen if you have several people at home and want to play the game. Most gaming systems support up to four split screens if four controllers are connected to the system.

In multiplayer mode, you can choose the type of game you want to play, depending on how many players are available. You can set a Player v Player game mode against another player or create a team and play against other teams online.

Finally, there are certain aspects of the game you can change as you continue gaming. If you want to change a specific part of the character, find the right NPC or potion that can do so. If you want to change time while playing, you should obtain the “Enchanted Sundial.”
