The XenDesktop Enterprise Edition provides the following on top of the XenDesktop VDI Edition features. XenApp published applications Applications can be installed on to a server running XenApp and then made available to users securely (application publishing). Users can use different types of devices such as desktop computers, tablets to smartphones to connect to and use the published applications. Browser selection IT departments can select the best web browser for each web or SaaS application to securely deliver the application to the user's device's browser. XenApp published desktops Users can connect to the desktop of a server running XenApp. This desktop can be made available (published) to users securely and accessed remotely to give the look and feel to users as though they were working on a desktop computer. Server VDI A virtual desktop solution based on a server operating system such as Windows Server 2012 can be used by cloud providers to provide a Windows 8 desktop look and feel solution, without actually delivering a desktop operating system solution such as Windows 8. Hosted Physical Desktops Remote access to physical desktops securely protected in the data centre, such as when graphically intensive applications can be installed on powerful desktops which can then be accessed remotely. Remote PC Access Users can directly connect securely to their office PCs using the web portal. Their office PC desktop will appear on their remote computer and they can interact with the desktop as though they were working in the office. Linux Hosted Shared Virtual Desktops Red Hat Linux and SUSE Linux virtual machine desktops can now be delivered using XenApp and XenDesktop architecture from a single virtual instance, in the same way XenApp can deliver multiple sessions of Windows Server 2012. Linux Dedicated VDI Desktops Dedicated Linux virtual machines can be uniquely assigned to users, helping in areas where demanding users can work without having to worry about shared workloads. Desktop Player Add-On Available as an additional purchase, allowing XenDesktop virtual desktops to be run on a Windows laptop and Apple MacBook irrespective of whether they are online or offline. VM Hosted Apps Uses a separate virtual machine where applications are installed and then accessed using XenApp. This can be used in areas where applications are incompatible with later versions of Windows and require older versions such as Windows XP. HDX Mobile HDX Mobile technology optimizes connections from mobile devices to XenApp and XenDesktop infrastructure. From improving network connectivity, graphics/multimedia compression to integrating with device features such as GPS. Citrix HDX RealTime Optimization Pack Optimizes the delivery of voice, video and collaboration features of Skype for Business, Lync and Office 365. Pre-launch technology Published applications can be set to pre-launch, so when a user connects, the application is launched automatically in the background, so when the user themselves launch the published application, they appear almost instantaneously. Session linger After a user closes an application, the application session remains open or a time period, thereby launching almost instantaneously should the user open the application again, without requiring the user to logon again. Anonymous Logon Users can be provisioned to log on without being authenticated using the anonymous logon feature. 16,32 and 64-bit application support 16-bit and 32-bit applications can be deployed using desktop operating systems, whilst 64-bit applications can be deployed using the Server operating systems such as Windows Server 2012. Centrally secured applications Applications interaction is provided by Citrix clients, allowing the applications to remain installed in the data centre and not on the end user devices. Custom Delegated Administration Administration tasks can be delegated to different administrator roles, allowing control of defining exactly how much a particular type of administrator can manage in Citrix Studio. Configuration Logging By enabling configuration logging, configuration changes to published applications and desktops can be monitored, ensuring IT are aware when changes were made and who made the changes. Hybrid Cloud provisioning Cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) can be utilized, allowing desktops to be deployed into the cloud from the Citrix Studio infrastructure. Microsoft Azure integration Workloads from XenApp and XenDesktop can be provisioning into the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, to provide Hybrid Cloud capability. Amazon Web Services integration Citrix Studio allows integration with AWS, to allow provisioning of desktop and application workloads. CloudPlatform integration Citrix Studio allows integration with CloudPlatform, to allow provisioning of desktop and application workloads. Central image management of XenApp Servers By using Provisioning Server, a master image can be developed and used to create further XenApp servers, identically to the master image. Saving time on deployment of XenApp servers. Powerful migration scripts Scripts to migrate applications, policies and folder structure from XenApp 6.5 to XenApp 7.x environments. Microsoft App-V integration Citrix Studio can be used to manage Microsoft App-V packages for streaming from SCCM to virtual desktops and XenApp servers.
